The vulnerability of children and the potential trajectory toward juvenile delinquency constitute enduring and critical challenges for contemporary societies. Given the heightened sensitivity of communities toward this age group, it is imperative to adopt intervention strategies calibrated to the developmental, psychological, and social conditions of children. Childhood represents a foundational period in human life; successful navigation of this stage typically promotes healthy psychosocial development in subsequent life phases and serves as a critical factor in preventing the emergence and consolidation of delinquent behavior.
This study aims to examine the extent to which adverse or stressful childhood experiences contribute to the progression of child victims of early-life harm into adolescent offenders, drawing on established criminological theories. Systematic identification of the conditions underpinning childhood victimization, as well as the factors sustaining persistent delinquency in juveniles, provides crucial insights into the etiology of enduring criminal conduct, facilitates the identification of high-risk profiles, and informs targeted preventive interventions.
Methodologically, the research employs a descriptive–analytical framework, utilizing library-based and document-driven data collection. The findings underscore the significant influence of social determinants—including exposure to criminalized environments during childhood, affiliation with delinquent peers, and parenting characterized by criminal or negligent behaviors—on adolescents’ proclivity toward delinquency. Moreover, the persistence of criminal trajectories is reinforced when maladaptive behavioral learning is extensive, the efficacy of social control mechanisms is weak, and formal responses are excessively stigmatizing. Under these conditions, juveniles are more likely to become entrenched in deviant pathways, rendering reintegration into conventional social structures increasingly challenging.
This study contributes to the understanding of the interplay between childhood victimization and adolescent offending and highlights the need for evidence-based interventions and legal frameworks that mitigate the progression from victimization to delinquency, thereby promoting rehabilitation and social reintegration.
