Young individuals have historically received minimal legal attention and protection, despite the alarming rise in sexual offenses targeting this vulnerable demographic. As the most susceptible group within society, their protection requires heightened and coordinated efforts from parents, educators, policymakers, and legal institutions. The growing emphasis on safeguarding their rights, interests, and dignity against social deviance underscores the imperative to prevent and minimize breaches of societal norms.
The effective use of modern technology can significantly enhance public awareness and preventive measures. This includes leveraging mass communication tools, smartphones, high-speed internet, and virtual platforms to reach various societal levels. In light of the increasing prevalence of virtual networks and the emergence of grave concerns such as the sexual exploitation of minors within these spaces, it is essential to examine the relevant institutional contexts—family, education, and media—and assess the extent to which awareness, prevention, and legal interventions have been successful.
This research adopts a practical objective using a descriptive survey method. Data collection involved the distribution of 100 questionnaires to social workers engaged in youth welfare, 100 questionnaires to families with children under the age of 18, and 100 questionnaires to minors themselves. The findings indicate a significant cognitive gap between the informational needs and expectations of young people, their families, and educational institutions. This disconnect, compounded by the inefficiencies of national media, has increasingly driven young individuals to seek information and solutions online, including matters related to sexual offenses.
